Wine tasting in Panorama, Argolida

A Saturday morning in Argolida, at Koroniotis Estate Winery — a family-run boutique winery in Panorama, just outside Argos. It makes small quantities: 7 labels and around 60,000 bottles a year, from a key spot between the Nemea and Mantinia viticultural zones, with its own microclimates.

All around us: Mycenae, the Argolic Gulf, and the Larisa castle above Argos — the oldest city in Greece. The drive from Athens is about two hours and the scenery alone is worth it.

What we'll do

A 60–90 minute tour of the winery and the adjacent vineyard, presented by Kyriakos Koroniotis himself: how a small winery actually works, from grape to label. Tours run in Greek, English or Dutch.

Then we sit down in the tasting room and try every label:

Don't know anything about wine?

Neither do half of us. There's no right or wrong answer to "what does this remind you of" — and nobody will quiz you on vintages and varieties. If you don't like something, say so; that's part of the fun.

Good to know

• Everyone makes their own way there. The winery has parking.
• Whoever drives tastes symbolically or not at all — no problem, no wine goes to waste.
• The venue is accessible for people with disabilities.
• If you bring children, the winery has a treat for them — but there's no play area.
• There's a wine shop too, with wooden gift boxes if you'd like to take something home.

After the tasting

We finish around midday, so the rest of the day is up to the group: Mycenae, a walk and lunch in Nafplio's old town, Palamidi and Bourtzi, or the ancient theatre of Epidaurus. We'll decide on the spot — nobody has to stay.

How to find us

We meet in the winery car park at 11:00, with the yellow "pame parea" flag. The exact pin comes with your booking confirmation. If you're anxious about coming alone, mention it in your booking note — one of us will be waiting for you and will handle the introductions.
